Balenciaga è una casa di moda fondata dal maestro couturier e genio della moda  Cristóbal Balenciaga, imperatore del lusso degli anni 60, che Dior chiamava “il maestro di tutti noi” . E' considerato  come uno dei tre grandi uomini del suo tempo con Coco Chanel e Christian Dior. Di conseguenza, non bisogna meravigliarsi se le fragranze Balenciaga sono state progettate per essere iconiche e senza tempo. I profumi Balenciaga si distinguono per la loro eleganza, classe e raffinatezza.

Una storia iniziata nel 1947, quando venne presentato Le Dix un profumo chypre floreale da donna, il primo successo del maestro spagnolo, il primo di una lunga serie.

Passano due anni e altro capolavoro (oggi introvabile) che segue le orme di Le Dix, La Fuite des Heures (Fleeting Moment).

Si susseguiranno solo grandi successi negli anni futuri nella profumeria da donna firmata Balenciaga: Quadrille nel 1955, Michelle nel 1979, Rumba nel 1989.

Gli uomini non sono stati meno fortunati, perche Balenciaga ha cucito su misura profumi strepitosi come Ho Hang nel 1972, un profumo legnoso - speziato su base ambrata, che è ricercato ancora oggi, poiche come detto le fragranze balenciaga sono davvero senza tempo.

In molti si chiedevano se si potesse fare meglio, non ci è dato dare giudizi ma Portos, signori Portos nel 1982 è qualcosa da lasciare senza parole, un legnoso ricco di cuoio e muschio da favola.
